Months into our new life in Italy, it continues to be endlessly fascinating how different the Italian culture is. For example, today, we’re talking about honesty. In America, we have a thing called a “white lie.” When someone asks how their butt looks in a dress, you do somersaults trying to let them down politely – or flat out say it looks great in order to make the sale or move on from the moment. In Italy, someone might say “That’s no good on you” or “You have no ass.” While it can take you by surprise, we’ve come to really appreciate this honesty. We discuss that and more quirks of Italian culture, such as the value they place on beauty, rest, and quality of life, and how you can capture more of each in your life.
