Don’t Quit Your Day Job

So many of us have been there: day in and day out, you’re no longer passionate about what it is you do for work. You’re dreaming, you’re thinking, and you feel ready to make the next big move for your career. Is it time to quit your day job?

No, it’s not. At least, not without a plan.

If this sounds like you, here’s my recommendation: tomorrow morning, wake up and do something called the ‘morning pages.’ Grab a pen and notebook and start writing down all the things you’re passionate about, the things you’re good at, and the things that make you money.

Read what you wrote and think about it for a while. What’s the common thread? Where’s the intersection of your passion, your skills, and what makes money?

Once you find that focus, I’d recommend looking into coaching or a course to guide you and hold you accountable to that path. Then, maybe, you can start thinking about whether or not quitting
your day job is right for you.

It’s tempting to hit a boiling point when your life isn’t fulfilling any longer and quit your day job. I would caution you to secure an “ace in the hole” first.

The goal is for you to be fulfilled and not stressed because you abandoned your primary income source. You must have a plan.

In this video, I’ll break down a few do’s and don’ts when it comes to living your dream life. Let me know what you think.

You are the average of the five people you hang out with. Your current tribe will give you instant feedback on where you’re headed. Here are a few tips to help you level up your tribe.

I approach this process by being deliberate about who I want inside my tribe. I want to “play tennis” with people who are more advanced than me. This is how I grow.

This isn’t a numbers game. I’m looking for quality over quantity. I would rather have five people that I admire in my circle than 20.

As with most things in life, there’s a flip side. When you finally figure out what you love to do, guess what you spend 99% of your time doing? Working.

And when the work doesn’t even feel like work, you start neglecting other parts of your life.

When you need new ideas, sometimes you can get lost in old opinions, beliefs, and rules.

The best way out is to play a little game my wife and I like to call “stupid idea time”. This game will give you the permission you need to explore bad ideas in order to find good ones.
