So many of us have been there: day in and day out, you’re no longer passionate about what it is you do for work. You’re dreaming, you’re thinking, and you feel ready to make the next big move for your career. Is it time to quit your day job?
No, it’s not. At least, not without a plan.
If this sounds like you, here’s my recommendation: tomorrow morning, wake up and do something called the ‘morning pages.’ Grab a pen and notebook and start writing down all the things you’re passionate about, the things you’re good at, and the things that make you money.
Read what you wrote and think about it for a while. What’s the common thread? Where’s the intersection of your passion, your skills, and what makes money?
Once you find that focus, I’d recommend looking into coaching or a course to guide you and hold you accountable to that path. Then, maybe, you can start thinking about whether or not quitting
your day job is right for you.

In this video, I’ll break down a few do’s and don’ts when it comes to living your dream life. Let me know what you think.

A couple of weeks ago, I told you about a little game called stupid idea time – but for every stupid idea that might be a winner, you have to flip it around and look at it the other way, too.
What if it works?
What if the thing that we are brainstorming comes true?
I used to be a chiropractor. If I had asked myself that question before becoming one, I think I would have gotten some answers I didn’t like: you will be dealing with patients that come in every single day, with mostly the same problem, five days a week, for your entire career.
And it would have forced me to realize that that will get a little bit monotonous after a while.
So, asking yourself the question of ‘what if it works’ gets you thinking – with the reminder of being careful what you wish for. What if I got this? What would my life be like? What would the work to earn it be like?
As with most things in life, there’s a flip side. When you finally figure out what you love to do, guess what you spend 99% of your time doing? Working.
And when the work doesn’t even feel like work, you start neglecting other parts of your life.

Is hiring a coach going to help you reach your next goal?
The short answer: it depends.
The long answer is a bit more nuanced – there can be a lot of factors at play that influence the effectiveness of coaching on what you’re trying to achieve. Accountability, mentorship, advice – what are you looking for?
